Gyminee Food Search Engine For Firefox
I’ve been using Gyminee for the last few weeks. For those unaware, Gyminee is a health and fitness social network with a big focus on its food and exercise tracking tools. It lets me track my daily intake of calories, fat, carbs, protein, etc. Of course the only way to track that information is to manually enter every morsel of food I eat into their system. Luckily this site is starting to gain in popularity and as a result the food database is now pretty sizeable.
Their iPhone interface makes it easy to submit the food I eat while I’m away from my computer. But a lot of times I’m at my desk (at home or work) and would like to quickly record the meal I just ate. Right now we’re stuck with pulling up their site, logging in, selecting the “Nutrition” tab, and then typing in “whole wheat pita” (for example, of course).
Since I’m a big fan of the Firefox browser (and, for that matter, productivity) I decided to rig up a custom search engine that searches the Gyminee food database.
If you’re a user of both Firefox and Gyminee you can now be more productive in your journey towards health. I’ve submitted it to the Mozilla search engine database. Here’s the link:

Just click on “Gyminee Food Search” to install the plug-in and begin using it.
This was created with help from the documentation provided by O’Reilly and Mozilla.
Enjoy.
I don’t usually miss out on feature updates on web apps I frequent- especially the very updates which I request myself. Somehow this slipped through the cracks: I just noticed that Google Maps now lets you view traffic at different times in the day. Planning on leaving the office early? Interested in the rush hour traffic patterns of a city where you’re looking to move? Google Maps now has you covered.
